Launceston strikes me as ‘corrective spelling’ by the web, which OP failed to notice when posting ;-) ;-).

Still not a current name, though, or even remotely recent

Early spellings of names change over time as they are often written as they are heard.

For us on Genes it was where the family came from that was important.

The line was extinct by 1580, which means they are unlikely to be your ancestors

It is very unlikely that anyone with knowledge of the family will spot your post. Have you checked to see if anyone on here has the family in their tree - see Search/ search all members trees,

If you want specific help from anyone on here then you would need to give a lot more information, such as dates, areas, full names etc.
