We’ll just to further this a little… these guys seem to have evaded all the records, but …in agreement with the wedding proposed by Maddie in wolstanton, ..(and thanks for the lead) it seemed to make sense. But did they have a son George and not register him?? |

You can see a digital image on the GRO site for a small cost. The last one I accessed cost £2.50, but I understand that may have increased slightly |

Although this doesn’t solve the Ann problem,but could George have been on a night shift and therefore wouldn’t appear on a census. |

Of course his parents may not have registered him in 1860, but my thinking is, even if George is away somewhere in 1881, he married in burslem, and his son registered there in 1881, should not his wife Ann/ie not be found on census? Perhaps they were missed ?? |

There were only two George Thorneycroft births registered in the right district in 1860 +/-2. |
