Hi can some please see what information is given on this record.
E Chorley UK Royal Air Force Muster Roll 1918. Service no 231245 Thank you
Edwin Chorley b 11/05/1899 Birmingham
He joined the Royal Naval Air Service at HMS Dadealus just before it merged to became the RAF. He then transferred to the RAF. At some point he went to RAF Manston. That is all I know about his RAF career. His RN Service record is difficult to read.
Thank you for helping me with this.

On Ancestry, the image of the particular record you ask about is only viewable with a sub to Fold3.
What a pity you didn't ask yesterday, when access to Fold3 was temporarily free! I don't have a sub to Fold3.

Thank you very much for doing that for me ArgyllGran
I just couldn't make out the dates etc. It seemed to me he was only in Daedalus for a few hrs which I knew couldn't be right. Your translation seems much better.
The bit that is confusing me is that they have Daedalus with Manston in brackets. I wonder if there was a Daedalus within Manston. HMS Daedalus is in Gosport Hampshire and RAF Manston is in Kent.
Thanks again for your help

Thanks nameslessone.
It was on Ancestry. But I only have the basic membership and that record isn't included in that. To view it you need to have Fold3 membership.
Thanks

If he was born in 1911, as per OP, no way could he have served in WW1

Daedalus (Manston) probably meant that he was on the books of HMS Daedalus as he was RN Air Service there. If seconded to Manston for training he would remain on Daedalus books until he joined the RAF proper.
