Marriage posted at 18:02 - Ethel's side of it.
I imagine it helped an immigration application if one said one was going to be a farmer.

Thanks this information is so interesting. All I knew about him was that he had gone to Canada. Once there I couldn't find anything out about him.

Thanks again everyone.
You have all been very helpful.
Just to confuse everyone the Parkin family often used their middle name instead of their first name. So Cyril could have been right. I will have a closer look at all the information you have given me today.
Yesterday I knew nothing about him today thanks to you all i know quite a bit about him.
Thank you

In case you don't have these -
Ethel going to Canada aged 8 months, along with her mother and brother Gordon. Her father was already there - against Annie's name it says "going to husband":
Ethel E D Pardin in the Canada, Incoming Passenger Lists, 1865-1935 Name Ethel E D Pardin Gender Female Arrival Age 8/12 Birth Year abt 1911 Departure Port Liverpool, England Arrival Date 1 Oct 1911 Arrival Port Quebec, Canada Vessel Canada
Ethel E D Parkin in the U.S., Index to Alien Arrivals at Canadian Atlantic and Pacific Seaports, 1904-1944 Name Ethel E D Parkin Age 11/12 Birth Year abt 1910 Arrival Year 1911 Arrival Country USA
But then again in 1922 - the record says she hasn't lived in Canada before: Travelling with parents. Going to Mr John Kelly, 49 Egerton Road, Winnipeg. Relative in UK: Grandfather, Henry Parkin, 54 Welbeck Street, East Kirkby.
Ethel Eva Doreen Parkin in the Canada, Ocean Arrivals (Form 30A), 1919-1924 Name Ethel Eva Doreen Parkin Gender Female Estimated Birth Year abt 1913 Birth Place Kirkby North Age 9 Date of Arrival May 1922 Port of Arrival Quebec Port of Departure Nottingham, England Ship Name Metagama
