As things seem rather quiet on the boards at the moment, here's a puzzle to keep you busy:
Who is this man? Can you find any other record of him?
Johnson Port Steaton in the 1939 England and Wales Register Name Johnson Port Steaton Gender Male Marital Status Married Birth Date 11 Jan 1885 Residence Date 1939 Address 74/76 Bedford Street South Residence Place Liverpool, Lancashire, England Occupation Mining Engineer (Retired) Line Number 5 Schedule Number 98 Sub Schedule Number 11 Enumeration District Nhdt Borough Liverpool Registration district 453-2 Household Members (Name) Gender Rosa Braham Female Harold F Clowers Male D??cas C Leonard Male Haydn Davies Male William B Cass Male Johnson Port Steaton Male Margaret Beuson Female [Benson mis-transcribed ] Annie Seh??wary Female [ Schwarz mis-transcribed ] Constance Cregeen Female
He's not related to me in any way. I just happened to come across his name while looking for someone else.
His YOB seems to have been changed to 1895.
His name seems mis-transcribed. To me, it looks like Bert Stinton-Johnson.
Or maybe Sturton-Johnson, or something similar.

That's a good one. As a mining engineer he could have worked all over the world, married and had chidlren anywhere as well.

if you go back a page, same address there is a female Stinton. Johnson ...
The 1945 ER for Wavertree have the following at 39 Childwell Park Avenue: Stinton, Johnson Emily Stinton, Johnson Bert.
So it looks as thoough their name is Johnson Stinton
added. Looks a though Bert served in the RFA in WW1 and travelled to and from Bombay

Well done, Names and ErikaH!
For some stupid reason, I hadn't checked for a death for him, which would have been the obvious thing to do! I couldn't find anything for him - but now I look again, there are lots of records!
it looks as if he was probably born abroad, maybe India.
The 1919 travel record posted by ErikaH gives his "country of last permanent residence" as India. [EDIT: and other records, as noted by Names.]

The daughter Patricia's birth record (1926) gives mmn wrongly as Jarrett.
Bert and Emily appear not to have married - unless maybe abroad.
