There were only two Mauds born 26/10/04, without middle names, per 1939.
Both can be ruled out.

Maud Dixon is probably indeed Maud Dixon, though there are several possibilities for her birth reg.

Maud Rudd - nee Hewison.

Of the others, we can rule out

Winifred Stracey - born in Braintree 1904.
Winifred McGrory - nee Fagan, per marriage 1935.
Winifred McAndry - nee Hogg, per marriage 1929.
Winifred M Tarnall - name actually Yarnall, nee Hatherley, per marriage 1926.
Winifred M Beldon - nee Peckover, per marriage 1928 (to BeldoM per FreeBMD, and middle name Nellie, per birth reg.)
Winifred Locke - has middle initial A added, which matches birth.
Winifred Rowan - nee Kelly
Winifred Over - nee Marchant.
Winifred Evans - nee Davies


That leaves two:

Can't see a marriage for a Winifred to John Crehan or Grehan (Crehan per second marriage to William Middlehurst, 1950). Can't see John's birth, either, supposedly 1 Aug 1899.

Can't see marriage of a Winifred to Ernest M Turner.


But of course she may not have been calling herself Winifred.

Just to confirm that 1939 register shows 25 women named Winifred who give DoB as 26/10/1904

Fourteen can be eliminated instantly due to second initials

The Ancestry tree which has the divorce record shows a sister (Edith Mitchell) dying in Australia in 1991, having previously been in Canada

Problem is, she could have been using any name under the sun

The full divorce papers may have more info than the single sheet which is on an Ancestry tree

I, for one, looked at worldwide records - I’m sure others will have done so, also

She was obviously alive when Muller divorced her……….

I notified FMP of the errors yesterday

The 'Maud' was probably added by the woman herself for some reason.

As she'd abandoned her husband and child, no knowing what she called herself in 1939, or at any other time.

I've never doubted that she was the one born to Carvey/Chapman combo

Her marriage cert is on the Ancestry tree - father Henry William, occ Carman

She lied even then............gave her age as 21, when she was, in fact, only 18. the marriage was in January

Hmmm -
according to that tree, she was the Winifred Carvey, without a middle name, whose birth and 1911 entry I posted yesterday at 21:37

She's still just Winifred in 1921.
Surname mis-spelled Cariey in transcription.

She wasn't with her widowed father in 1939

From her birth cert on Ancestry, the woman's DoB was 26/10/1904

The surname is Muller, mistranscribed.
Mitchael's name is scored out - but he seems to have arrived home in time to sign the form. "Baker aboard ship (now at home)"

I suggest that the child was actually living with his father in 1939, and that the birth year for Francis snr. should have been given as 1902, not 1912

The 1911 parents and Winifred were living in Paddington in 1921, at 24, Barnsdale Road

The Mullers were in Kensington

Franz born c1903 is a Butcher’s Assistant…..undoubtedly anglicised his name when marrying
