Thank you so much to ErikaH for that suggestion.
I had no idea of that area of GR and so you can imagine that I will now go back to ALL my brick walls and search there. I'm really grateful to you for the link.
I am now in touch with the descendant of a GGGrandfather and have already sent him a photo.

Yes, his father had the same first name and is indeed the wealthy farmer in the 1881 census.
His wife, my grandmother, was nee Vaughan, married Hervey and divorced. It seems that the GRO has her with both surnames ....................

As you have access to census records and bmd records, you need to follow up his own siblings I would have thought rather than the half siblings initially. Their marriages, children etc. Could be quite a lot by now!

Lewis Barber is my maternal grandmother's second husband. They married in 1932. He died in Tenterden in 1939. There were no children of the marriage.
I have come across a bible with nice gilt edged pages with the inscription in his distinctive round handwriting: "Lewis Barber May 24th 1923 St. Matthew. Chapters 5, 6 & 7. Old Palace, Lincoln 4-30 Trinity Sunday".
Lewis had eight or nine siblings and half siblings that I can see from census entries.
I would love to return this bible to one of his family members and would be grateful for any research which could lead me to them, please.
Thank you.
