It seems as though we're fighting a losing battle the last thing I can try is for some one to get a 1921 census with Edna and her brother who was born 1911?

How is an American certificate relevant to the UK/ South Africa?

By googling it seems that a SA death certificate is similar to an English one

There is NO second forename on Edna’s marriage record which is shown on familysearch………………

You refer to a brother - where did you learn about him?

Have you actually found a birth registration with MMN to match that for a birth registration for Edna?

You haven’t said where you have got all the snippets of info you’ve added at intervals………please give some verification for your statements

I've said I've got the snip its from the person who is supposed to be my 2/3 cousin and things that I " have " found out No I've not been able to pin point a birth for Edna and not found one for her brother

So as I said I'm giving up

The one with mother Bertha emigrated to USA in 1930

It seems that the only definite facts you have about Edna are that she married Thomas in South Africa in 1932, and died in Johannesburg in 1983.


I assume the DOB, and the mention of the supposed brother Albert are from your contact?
Does that person have documentary proof?

Edna's birthplace of Manchester also seems unproven.


I haven't been able to track the Edna Wood registered in Barton upon Irwell.

If you're trying to prove a connection between Abbot and an unnamed person who died in 1861, shouldn't you be researching that person's descendants? Or have I misunderstood your opening post?

Why do you imagine that the mother dying would affect the surname of her offspring? Or was she unmarried?
