A bit more info for us, from Emma's post on CuriousFox:

"Looking for info on Winifred Wynn. Born around 1895 died 1961. Father was William Wynn, on winifreds marriage cert it says fathers occupation ACTOR. i HAVE PHOTOS OF wINIFRED AS A DANCER TAKEN IN BRISTOL,Dolphin Street. "

Can you tell us more about those photos, Emma?
Was she dancing in a music hall or theatre? Did you find the photos online?
Or are they old family photos?

Wow you're a star for digging through that lot for me thank you ever so much I really do appreciate it alot , I think Winifred marrying and having a first child (my Gran) at 31 was a bit late? I always wondered if she married before or even had more children...I wish I had a time machine

The only remaining birth on Gwyn's list is this one:

Taylor: parents William Samuel Thomas Taylor (a joiner) and Edith Anna Taylor.
Married Ernest Gill in 1917 in Plymouth - and they were still living in Plymouth in 1939.


So - back to the drawing board!

Hmmm - that was a promising start, but it seems to be the wrong Winifred.


A tree on Ancestry says that Winifred Kathleen Hill married George W Brock in Bedford in 1912, and had children Winifred Mary Hill in 1911 in Cambridge ( illegitimate per GRO) , and Veronica Brock in 1914 in Bedford (mmn Hill).

The tree says she remarried in 1916 in Bedford, to Sidney Beddoes.

Caramanella must have shortened or changed her name in later life.

May be your Winifred was registered with one of these surnames, but later took a stepfather's name of Wynn..?

On the 1925, 1926 and 1927 ERs, these people are at 52 Jeffreys Road, Lambeth:

George & Louisa Cooke; Robert Maxwell Dalrymple; the Ellis family (Douglas, Edwin James, and Louisa Amelia); and Julia & Stephen Wilfred Sullivan.

Winifred must just have been a boarder/lodger.

I believe 52 Jeffreys road is Stockwell lambeth

I think I've gone down the wrong rabbit hole with the tijou family ... really thought I'd found a clue aswell...


At the time of marriage the address was 52 Jeffreys road Clapham road London, it sates Winifred as a spinster

What was Winifred’s address when she married? Did she declare an occupation?

No birth in Scotland under that name either ,cant see anything on Incomming Passenger lists.........Wynn is a much used Welsh surname.

she possibly took a stepfathers surname at a young age.?

If Helen was a daughter of Tom and Kate why would she become a wynn if an Ellen married a William wynn ?
