Horace and Grace had a second son, born 1929 in Lewisham.
In 1952 and 1953 he's living with Grace in Dulwich, and in 1954 there's also an Evelyn Cater with them (possibly his wife ?? but I don't see a marriage.).

Patrick married twice, and had a son from his first marriage, born 1950.
Can't see Patrick after the second marriage, and don't see the son definitively, as it's not a unique name.

there is also a son bn 1963 to Patrick and second wife,,,,,,,last sighting is 1965,

so the findings have given the poster a few avenues to follow up on,plus they have more than previously known about the goings and comings which all adds to the story....

my goodness me you have all been so helpful in filling in an large gap that i had in my maternal side of the family. I have been quite successful in tracing my Paternal side back to 1800 however it was so much easier as until the early 1900's nearly all the Male line lived in a small area in Kent working as for the most part as "Farm Labourer's and thankfully as yet know further " Skeletons etc"
within the threads i noticed that it was suggested that the name " Cater "may have been error and it could be "Carter" is this something to check ? because it would be a real coincidence if this is a fact as my Mother Ann McGee Married Donald Carter in 1941 !!!!! The mention of Carter was in relation to the other man, Horace W Carter, whose name is mis-spelled as Cater on the transcription of the 1939 Register which Kay???? suggested on 27 Aug at 19:01.
That is the wrong man, and his name is clearly Carter when one looks at the image of the Register.

The man Grace married is definitely CATER.

I think the son born in 1929 died in Crawley Sussex as who was possibly his wife has.

The son born in 1926 last sighting was 1965---------its possible he & his family emigrated as nothing in records is showing..........did he join his brother Stanley?

PS .Skeletons are what makes us human,,,,unearthing an unknown is facinating and shows us our families are not unique nor as unblemished as we or them have us think.......be open minded,,,.
