Looking for descendants of Margaret Mason born 21.2.1695 in Thorpe Arnold Leicestershire. Her father was William Mason and mother Margaret born Pick.

Where did you find the baptism record? Birth records did not start until July 1837

What connects you to these people?

The name through the from her mother who was born Pick. The Pick family are my ancestors.

There is a marriage shown on FMP at Great Dalby, Leics.of a William Mason and Margaret Pick 1718 or 1719. Wm of Whissendine and Margaret of Dalby.

Following on from that there is a Baptism of a Margaret Mason 11/9/1720 at Thorpe Arnold to a William and Margaret Mason
Is this a coincidence of names or a different family or have you posted wrong dates?

That Margaret Pick may have been baptised 21.2.1694/5 at Great Dalby to John and Mary

Margaret Pick born 21.2.1695 married William Mason in 1718. They had a son William born 1718 and died 1719, their daughter Margaret was born 4.9.1720 in Thorpe Arnold.
These dates were found on the England Births and Christenings 1598 to 1975. Margaret Mason (Pick) is my direct ancestor (9th generation) half sister.

Which woman was born in 1695? You’ve posted two different versions, which is confusing to say the least ;-) ;-)

So it was Margaret PICK baptised - not born, no birth date given in OPR - 21/2/1695. Her parents were John and Mary

She married William Mason so only became Margaret Mason in 1718.

Wm and Marg. Mason had a daughter named Margaret Mason baptised - not born - in 1720

From FMP - England Births and baptisms gives her Baptism date as 4th September 1720, not her birth date (transcript only so unable to check OPR)

From FMP - Leicestershire Baptisms gives her Baptism date as 11 September. This record allows you to look at the original OPR. The date reads 11th, although I can see from the way it is written why it may have been transcribed as the 4th.

Margaret Pick is on a large number of Ancestry trees. None of those I looked at have moved on to children.
