Bear in mind, though, that you would need to fill in a considerable 'gap' between the two James Connollys. The one whose son was Luke c1852 simply can't be the one whose birth you suggest was in 1771.

ALSO......the woman who married LUKE GALWAY in 1871 was called MARY

I will have to give up on the search for Luke Connolly as their are too many Luke's.
I know that my Luke Connolly born 1852 married a Margaret Elizabeth Galway who are my friends Great Grandfather & that his father was a James Connolly from the marriage certificate

So, how does it relate to your original question on here about people allegedly born in the late18th/early 19th century?

The 1871 marriage is obviously not for ANY of those people.............are you suggesting that Luke born c1852 is a descendant of one of them?

One further point which needs to be noted is that, as Luke was a soldier when he married in 1871, he may well not have been born in Ireland...................

In which case, Luke is not a brother of the John whose father was named Timothy.

The marriage is also on Ancestry, although not the image with fathers' names..

He is also not the Luke Connolly who lived in Dewsbury.

I have the marriage Certificate of Luke Connolly to Mary Galway on the 20th December 1871 says his father is James Connolly

None at all, as far as I can see!
Can't see anything online to prove that the supposed siblings were actually siblings.
No baptism records.

Maybe Ellen knows more.

Death record for the supposed son John (image provided on Ancestry tree) gives his father's name as Timothy.
But John Connolly is a very common name.

The tree (and others which have copied from each other) has Patrick emigrating to Massachusetts in 1863 - but then living in Sheffield in 1871. Not impossible, but no proof that both records are for the same person - another very common name.

So not much in the way of factual info to work on…………………

Ellen said it was James's death - but Ancestry tree, and reports of the murder, say it was Timothy's.

But we have no proof that they're even members of the right family. Might be just a coincidence re date.

You mentioned the possible date of death 26/6/1828.

At least one of the Ancestry trees has documentary evidence of that date of death for a Timothy Connell, murdered on board the "Mary Russell" , off Cork.

BUT -
the tree does NOT in any way prove that Timothy, Laurence, Luke , Patrick and John were brothers, nor that they were the sons of James/Timothy.

Nor that the Timothy Connell who died in 1828 was the same Timothy as the supposed member of that supposed family.

No baptism records are given for any of them, so there's no way of knowing who their parents were, nor even if they were brothers.
Their years of birth are taken from census records.

Where did you find the names of children of James and Mary?

His first wife was Mary Verdun / Verdin - but I can't see their marriage, which was probably in Ireland.
Eldest daughter Catherine was born in Ireland, per census.

Luke's 1851 marriage cert should name his father..

There are trees on Ancestry showing both a Laurence and a Luke Connolly living in Dewsbury, Yorkshire. Most give the father as Timothy, only one gives the name James.

However, as already said, Irish records are very patchy.
Also, such old records don't usually give much detail to help identify a particular person.
Connolly is a very common name, and we don't know where in Ireland the family came from.
