Are you certain that he was buried?

Get a copy of his Will to see whether he left any instructions regarding the disposal of his body

In the circumstances he was probably cremated. Maybe worth trying the council cemeteries officer to see if the ashes were interred somewhere.

Have you contacted the GR member who has this man in her tree?

Gwyn in Kent

Gwyn in Kent Report 11 Jun 2023 13:03

I don't know the area, but would suggest that at that time there were not many places available in a rural district for cremation.

Having internet trouble, but searches I've been able to do so far indicate that present day crematorium opened much later.

Maybe he is in a council cemetery.

ArgyllGran

ArgyllGran Report 11 Jun 2023 14:41

His grave isn't showing up anywhere on Findagrave.

But not all gravestones have been transcribed.
Or maybe he doesn't have a gravestone.

ArgyllGran

ArgyllGran Report 11 Jun 2023 14:53

If he's not cremated, and not in St Michael's where his parents are buried (link to church website posted already - and worth contacting in case he's buried there but not named on a stone), Mid Devon Council maintains three cemeteries:

Tiverton Cemetery
Park Road, Tiverton EX16 6BA

Crediton Cemetery
Old Tiverton Road, Crediton EX17 1HW

Cullompton Cemetery
( run by Cullompton Town Council)

Of those, Tiverton seems the most likely.

This site claims to be a full list of al burials in St Michael's churchyard - and Robert's not on it.

https://www.bampton.org.uk/graveyard.html

But it does say, "Some work is still to be done on existing burials. "
