Hi Folks

Percival Henry Towgood b.1921 Toronto, Ontario, Canada died 06 Nov 1994 Brighton, England ? married Joan Pauline Lee 14 Oct 1944 Hove, Sussex, England.
They had 2 boys Anthony and John.
Does any one have access to Canadian Census to see who his ancesters were.
Thanks in advance.

ArgyllGran Report 17 Mar 2023 11:04

He and Joan married in Hove in 1944, so he had certainly been in England during the war, then gone back to Canada, and returned in 1946 - per records posted above.

Can't see any earlier travel record, so it could well have been wartime travel with the army, and not a public record.

Another record of Percy, just for interest:

Percy Toogood
in the U.S., Border Crossings from Canada to U.S., 1895-1960
Name: Percy Toogood
Gender: Male
Departure Contact: Father Charles
Age: 14
Record Type: Cards
Birth Date: abt 1921
Birth Place: Toronto
Birth Country: Canada
Arrival Date: 8 Jul 1935
Port of Arrival: Niagara Falls, New York, USA
Record has photo?: No

Father Charles ( "person in country where came from") is "of Teignmouth"

I can't read what it says on the line for details of "relative or friend to join there" - ie - USA.

I've had to piece bits of this account together as you can't actually view the page on fmp so some bits don't actually read well but I can't see the page to correct mistakes. It still makes for emotive reading.
