Hi - looking to have confirmation that two brothers emigrated to Michigan. A third one, Richard, has disappeared - none show in the 1871 census and neither John nor Joseph show in the 1861.

All are tin miners.

There is a death for Richard in 6/1864 but his age is 40 so ruled him out.

Where have you looked?

I've checked Family Search and Ancestry. They're the only ones I'm aware of for establishing if people have emigrated. I find the search facility/results a bit convoluted.

Why do you think they may have gone to Michigan in particular?

Their sister Maria emigrated to British Columbia, after her marriage to John Keast in 1860.

Joseph and John Allen are very common names, and many travel (and other) records don't give a DOB or place of origin.

The Joseph and John on the 1866 record you posted were said to be miners - but unfortunately that doesn't narrow it down to any helpful extent..

I assume this is the 1900 record you thought might be John??

Unfortunately, as it's such a common name, there's no way to tell if this is your John or not.
