I am trying to find the parents of my William Jones born Abt 1798 in Bedwellty Monmouthshire in Wales died 1866

He married a Sarah Thomson/Thompson 26th December 1834 at Bedwellty , she was born 1799 died 24/5/1887

They had children John abt 1833,, William Henry Abt 1834, Edmond Abt 1835, Thomas Abt 1839, David Abt 1845,

Jones is one of those nightmare names to research.

Not all church registers survived in Wales, especially Chapel records.

Added: none of the trees on Ancestry have his parents either. So it looks like it may be impossible, unless the trees are all copied and no one did the research.

birth dates do vary

As there are two deaths for the name in 1866, we need to know if the OP has the cert for the one she says is the right man.

Thank you Maddie for 1841 census,I have the 1851/ 1861 ones also for telling me Sarah's maiden name, yes that is the death I found. Interesting he may have had a brother Edward, I will look at little more on him.

There were TWO deaths for the name in the district in 1866 . Which one are you claiming as your relative?

It's worth noting that Bedwellty was not an actual place but a district comprising many towns and villages and covered a very large area.
