1939 he his Burth was 20 Aug 1868.

1918 he married Margaret Lily and said he was 50. His farther John was dead

1911 he said was born in Little Hadham Herts

That is all i can find about him

1921 has them transcribed as JENKINS
There is a daughter Margaret Lily and two stepsons, William Abraham and Walter George

The Bishops Stortford registration district does cover Little Hadham so safe should have the right birth.
The birth certificate would confirm the fathers name.

Look for the birth on the GRO site where MMN is recorded, and as long as he wasn’t illegitimate, look for a marriage for potential parents

The man may not have been entirely sure of his birth year

OR…….his birth may not have been registered

Dates of birth on the 1939 Register are often "out" by a year, so the 1867 birth posted by Safc seems very likely.


However, it was an illegitimate birth, so no father will be named on the birth cert.

He may have invented a father's name when he married - especially as he says his father is deceased.
