Thank you Names, Argyll and Shirley. Charles Parker Tilly went to Australia prior to 1841 and his five children were born there. They are back in England for the 1861 census. I am waiting for the Trove website to come back on because there are 8 entries for Charles (from what I can gather they are creditors meetings). Thanks again.

According to Genuki the Cornwall FHS have published the inscriptions for Perranarworthal.
However, the site is about to go down for maintenance.

I don't think there's any difference between a memorial inscription and a monumental inscription.

From a Google search:

A monumental inscription is an inscription, typically carved in stone, on a grave marker, cenotaph, memorial plaque, church monument or other memorial.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Monumental_inscription

Searching for "memorial inscription" doesn't produce a definition, but lots of websites offering suggestions for wording to put on gravestones.

As I understand it a memorial inscription is on a grave marker

A monumental would on a monument with others unrelated names ie a town memorial honouring war dead or a local disaster

Have you tried looking at the Cornwall opc site for them. It is an excellant site for Cornwall and it is free.
Of course the Illinois death wouldn’t be on it.

Hello could someone please take a look at the memorial inscriptions for the following in Cornwall:

Charles Tilly born 1806 died 1809 aged 3
Charles Tilly born 1852 died 1933 aged 81
Charles Parker Tilly born 1812 died 1889 aged 77 - there are two for CPT same man
Charles Vigurs Tilly born 1850 died 1874 aged 24 (died in Illinois USA).

These are on FMP and Genes but I only have basic subscription to Genes.

What is the difference between a memorial inscription and a monumental inscription?

Thank you.
