Do you know when the person was born?

The electoral registers in the main library of a town can only be searched by address and not the person's name.

For the Electoral Roll, contact or visit the main library for the town/area where you think the person might have been living. [ Searchable by address, as Kath reminds me below.]

Some Electoral Rolls for that period are online - eg - London, Glasgow, Edinburgh and some other places. [Searchable by person's name and/or address].

You don't say where the person lived.
For a death up to approx 1992-ish (if in England or Wales) search FreeBMD:
https://www.freebmd.org.uk/search. Free to use, as the name suggests.

For a later death in England or Wales, use the GRO site: https://www.gro.gov.uk.
Free to use, though you need to register.

If you want the actual death cert for full details, having found the basic info on FreeBMD or GRO, buy it through GRO site.

If in Scotland, use Scotlands People: https://www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk
A basic search is free, though you need to buy credits to view the actual death cert 1855 - 1971. If you want the full details of deaths 1972 onwards, you need to buy a copy of the cert for £12 through the site.
