I am trying to trace the family of the above, he arrived in New Zealand about 1882-1884. So far I have been unable to find him in the UK census, or arrivals in New Zealand. The family has a long history in the music field, composing, organists etc. |

Perhaps his birth was Registered as William Henry Webb afterall the Victorians did have a habit of changing spellings :-) |

New Zealand papers have him as being born in London Feb 1856 and emigrated in 1883. His grandfather was called Henry and was a cousin of Sir Henry (Webbe) a baronet of Oddestoke? who died in 1874. |

Madoleine's mother was called Alice and she died 17 Apr 1933 at Helensville. |

Sir Henry Webb, 7th.baron of Webb, odstock, Wiltshire died in 1874 and the title died with him. |

That’s what I found. So I find it a bit strange that the title didn’t appear to go to male relations. |

The article above says that WH's grandfather Henry, who was Sir Henry's cousin, met with a fatal accident soon after Sir Henry's death so did not inherit. |
