A more general search has picked up a smattering of birth regns under the spelling Ennie, but unfortunately nothing that fits for John's wife, so the name does exist but isn't common. |

Do you know his exact DoB? |

ErikaH - Sleaford is the same registration district, or was at the time, and the age is within range, so I can see why it was flagged up as a possible match. Had I not seen the other census I would have thought it might be him. |

The age of the one in Doncaster isn’t right for your man, ditto the birthplace |

Despite the fact that Eney's birthplace is Doncaster, the other 1901 census gives his precise birthplace, the Doncaster census does not. Whilst I've come across people recorded twice on the same census, it seems unlikely that he'd be recorded as part of a ship's crew if he wasn't on board. |

I am hoping someone out there can have more luck than I in tracing a 2x great uncle and his wife. John Clarke was born in Roxholme Lincolnshire in Q4 of 1882, birth reg'd Sleaford RD, parents John Thomas Clarke and Ann Wilson. The last trace I have of him is on the 1911 census - |
