You said that Matthew went to Tasmania on the "Justitia".

He was only held for a while (17 Sept 1822 until 10 March 1823) on the prison hulk "Justitia", prior to transportation on the "Competitor".

If he was born c1797, he can't be the 43-year-old who married Mary Cooley in 1853, unless seriously lying about his age.

He travelled over on the 'Competitor' and his third marriage to widow Mary Cooley nee Jordan in 1853 has him as a 43 year old 'proprietor.'

Hello Shirley, The burial you sent me was for William Blackham born abt 1813 at Belper Derbyshire he was the son of Edward Blackham & Mary New he came to Hobart on the "Atlas" which left Plymouth 30th April 1833 & arrived in Hobart on the 24th August 1833, I did not have that information so thank you very much Ellen

I am searching for information on the children of Matthew Blackham & Alice Simpkin who were all born in Tasmania.
Matthew & Alice married 17th October 1827 in Hobart Tasmania.
Their children were
Ambrose Blackham born 12th October 1828 in Hobart
Mary Ann born 1830 in Hobart
William born 1832 Hobart died 14th May 1878 in Hobart
John born 30th June 1834 Hobart
Harriet born 22nd July 1837 Hobart died 3rd October 1838 at Hobart.
I know that Matthew was a convict who came out on the "Justitia" 17th September 1822 for stealing Money & died 10th June 1854 at Hobart
Alice was also a convict she came out on the "Lord Sidmouth" 10th February 1823, she also had many convictions in Hobart,I do not know when she died
