Thank you for clearing that up for me I will amend my findings
I got the birth in 1939 record so we now know that is wrong sorry about that.

Was the father known to be alive when the son married? When was that - and where?

Are you guessing Thomas’s DoB? Where was he born?

The 1932 marriage cert would seem to be vital

The 1974 death is NOT relevant. Mary Dorothy H ENGLAND.

the woman is on 1939 register in Birmingham with her husband

The 1939 you mention for Thomas is a SINGLE man

And he’s a sea-going engineer - not a Royal Navy seaman

Hi I am helping a friend to find some of her family details
Her Grandfather was Thomas Nelson b3/5/1903? his wife Mary Winifred M England b 23/10/1908 Torquay they married 1932 in Sunderland, Durham
Thomas and his son Robert were Royal Navy as stated in Roberts marriage cert
I am trying to find the deaths of Thomas and Mary
there is a death Mary Dorothy m England b 23/10/1908 death 1974 Birmingham same birth wrong name Dorothy?
1939 I believe Mary and Robert are living in Sunderland living in the same street Robert as on his marriage cert
1939 Gateshead Could this be Thomas Nelson 3/5/1903 seagoing living with Parents.
