Find Ancestors

Abraham Arnold was born in 1824 in Shropshire. His first wife was Susan (from the census, I don't know her maiden name). She was born in 1827 in Shropshire. I can't find a marriage for them. Susan died in 1857 and Abraham married Jane Tams. Abraham's and Susan's first child, Abraham, was born in 1850. I've tried Ancestry, Free BMD, Find My Past and Family Search but to no avail.

If this is Susan's death, then either age out or your year of birth from census is. would make her born 1824/5

You should also be able to get her maiden name by looking for Abrahams 1850 birth on the GRO.

Only Abraham Arnold birth 1850 +/- 2 on GRO is in Bradford mmn Taylor

I think they were gypsies, and at least some of them married gypsies, so that may account for place of birth unknown. I always forget about the GRO showing mmn. Thanks for your help. I've even looked for a marriage without a wife's name at all and there doesn't seem to be one anywhere for an Abraham that fits. I'm beginning to wonder if they were actually married.

There are other people at the same address, including an Isaac Arnold widower aged 60 an Earthenware Dealer b Oswestry.

What i think has happened is that Isaac is listed above Abraham and Sarah and shows as a Lodger to the person above him. Abraham and Susan initially listed as Son and ?? Daur. but Head and wife have been overwritten. So is one or the other Isaac's child and possibly Emma and Jacob also Isaac's

Oswestry is about 8 miles from Pontesbury, where Abraham Jnr is said to be born on the 1851

This baptism would fit Susan's age at death BUT it would mean parents of both Abraham and her are Isaac and Margaret (unless 2 Arnold families baptising child of same name and this is a sister to Abraham .............

Wonder if this is Abraham snr. He took a man to buy a horse from someone he knew but the horse turned out to be a 'kicker' and the man sued the seller for the cost and loss of time and damage.
