Good morning everyone.
I hope one of you lovely people can help me find a birth record

I am looking for Robert Shard born 5th August 1884 in Widnes Lancashire/Cheshire. I have his date of birth from the UK, Royal Navy Registers of Seamen's Services, 1848-1939 but i can't find his birth anywhere.

The information I have is from is Robert's marriage certificate .
Robert Shard's father was James Shard (deceased )
and Robert married his cousin Elizabeth Shard in 1912 in St Helens Lancashire.The witnesses were Elizabeths brother and his wife.
It also staes that Robert aged 28 was a widow but can't find a previous marriage for him. his occupation is Miner.

I would like to find his birth as I dont' know who is mother was. His father James Shard married Ann Elizabeth Jones in 1895 in Widnes.
Unless this is the wrong James

Have you looked for a birth using the GRO site, which gives MMN pre-1911

No gro birth record for that birthdate

How can he have been born in 1904 and married in 1912?

But I suppose it's possible that he took the surname of his birth father.

There's no sign of Mary Ann in England before 1891.
Perhaps she had to leave Ireland when pregnant.

James isn't listed with Mary in 1911, but she's "married", not "widow".
She says she's had 10 children, of whom one has died.
