Gordon has presumably not been in touch with Maryb and her husband, or he would know Betty's surname and anything else he needs to know.

However, as Maryb and husband are living, I won't add more.

The more I re-read Gordon's post, the less I understand it.

Of course you are correct AG. I wonder if the last poster on that site. Maryb Watt has perhaps given the answer? Her husband was the son of Betty (Elizabeth) and she has all her siblings named. I think they are all Mackenzies born 1930s and 40ish.

Just pure conjecture of course, hopefully the poster will get back with some answers to the questions soon.

Isabella was the grandmother of the Facebook poster Robert Bedford, but we don't know how the GR poster Gordon Watt is related.

We still need Gordon to come back and explain what his opening post means.

Was his father born as Watt or not?
If not, what was his birth surname?

Why does Gordon believe he is related to George Watt 1851?
I would guess that is his father's belief, and is the reason why he calls himself Watt (assuming he wasn't born as Watt).

So reading the scotlandspeople posts indicates that these are the poster's ancestors, his grandmother being Isabella.

The poster was born in Scotland, so one assumes his father was as well, which means he will have to purchase certs for info

I find it strange that the poster claims to be related to someone born 1851, yet says his father ‘goes by’ the surname Watt. If that wasn’t his birth surname, how has the poster PROVED the link to that earlier birth?

Your father’s birth certificate will give his mother’s maiden surname.

Have you done anything about looking for your father's birth record?

https://www.freebmd.org.uk/cgi/search.pl

https://www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk/search-our-records

How have you PROVED your connection to the man born in 1851?

Did your father know HIS father's name? Is he named on your parents' marriage cert?
