Could someone please look up the Family of Frederick Hughes (Chelsea 1888)
and his wife Grace Elizabeth Hughes (Fulham 1885).

Frederick married Grace Elizabeth Ashby in the Chelsea District in the September Quarter of 1914 though they had 2 children before the ceremony. I do not have the marriage certificate.

In 1911 the Family were living in Chelsea, on the border with Fulham. I believe the family stayed in this area though Kathleen, who is my particular interest, married Ronald Long in the Kensington District in 1942.

The Hughes Family is frustrating. I have not been able to place Frederick in any credible family before the 1911 census. Grace's father William Ashby (Fulham 1854) was a labourer in Fulham and I suspect Frederick's father was of also on the lower rungs of the labour market.

Chances are the older children had married before 1939

Try looking for marriages first

The family are living in Chelsea in 1939. For some reason on FMP they appear as living in different households on the index. In fact on the image, widowed Grace is with daughter Kathleen, son Henry and one closed record (probably daughter Louisa). None of that helps find Frederick’s birth.

You need Frederick and Grace's marriage certificate which should give you his father's name (if Frederick knew his father).
