	Hi, I am trying to find out more about John Hill. He is the father of William Hill b 1797, baptised 19/12/1797 SAINT WERBURGH CHURCH, KINGSLEY, STOKE. Using freereg I can see that his wife was Elizabeth but not sure where to go from here to find out more information, maybe contact the church to see the baptism records? Thanks

Member Since: July 2005 Posts: 10,663 Send Message	Malyon - I think that the marriage you've highlighted took place in Horsley, a few miles North of Derby - presumably the bride's parish. Her husband happened to be of the Parish of St Werburgh in Derby. At the time, Derby/s came under to Diocese of Lichfield in Staffordshire, which is where the Licence to marry would have been granted.

	Thanks for your efforts but the parents to William are definitely John and Elizabeth and not Martha. I did find a most likely - Marriage date 26 Apr 1785 , st marys, Staffordshire. Elizabeth Kingstone. George Hill witness. John witness at Ellen Kingstones wedding at same location, Marriage date 03 Jul 1791. Groom was Edward Stanton Other possible Elizabeth Ellesmore Marriage date 01 Feb 1794 Greyghost you have confirmed the correct baptism information for William. Looks like there are half a dozen possibles but still unsure how to confirm the correct one. Maddie I saw that link with Joseph as a sibling, it all seemed to fit but his mother is Martha which doesn't fit. :-(
