Hi, I'm struggling with old addresses for the following:
Arthur Talboys b. 1837 in Stroud, Gloucestershire - d. July 1891 - Gloucester.
Charles Talboys born 1781 in Cam, Gloucestershire (might be a bit early for census)
William Cakebread - b. 16 Nov 1810 in Bloxham, Oxfordshire - died in Coventry (looking for old Bloxham address please).
Robert Cakebread born 1776, Bloxham, Oxfordshire, died 1819, Bloxham.
Charles Wesley Bailey born Oct 1839 - Long Lawford, Warwickshire (the farm that they lived on).
John Bailey born 1803 - Preston Capes, Northamptonshire (their address in Preston)
I was hoping to track some places down where they grew up and used to live - hopefully they have not all been bulldozed - for immediate relatives - nice to bring the names to life for me and other relations. I might write and see if I could get some nice photos too!
****please PM responses** for the sake of the privacy of current residents who, given the amount of time since their passing, are also wholly unlikely to be related - this is why I haven't put it in the find living relatives section.
If they are all bulldozed, nearest connection with the family name would be really lovely. I've been struggling to read the census handwriting - guessing names is easier than reading addresses I have found!
Thanks and Merry Christmas
:-)

To check whether addresses still exist, use the postcode finder section of Royal Mail website. Simples ;-) ;-)

If you can read the address then use google street view. Even if you don’t have a house number you can see what sort of houses there are. For farms try Googling. I’ve often found references to a farms name.

William Cakebread is already in Coventry by 1841 census.
His baptism record says "son of Thomas and Catherine Cakebread of Culworth."
Re Culworth:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Culworth
Looks like the baptism of a son John (not the one who appears in the 1851 census). This one died in infancy.
John Cakebread in the Oxfordshire, England, Church of England Births and Baptisms, 1813-1915 Name: John Cakebread Baptism Date: 3 Dec 1837 Baptism Place: Banbury, St Mary, Oxfordshire, England Parish as it Appears: Banbury Father: William Cakebread Mother: Martha Cakebread
Address: Banbury Union Workhouse. William's occupation is "pauper".
John's death:
CAKEBREAD, JOHN 2 GRO Reference: 1838 M Quarter in BANBURY UNION Volume 16 Page 5
His death cert would give an address.
William & Martha's marriage banns say "both of Little Bourton in this parish"

Re Arthur Talboy in Maddie's post above -
For an idea of general location, there's mention here of Goodrich Court, in the Island area of St Nicholas parish:
"Levi's Court was a narrow alley leading off the south-west end of Westgate Street in the direction of the River Severn. It would appear that at the time, the area was partly residential, and partly industrial. There were several Public Houses, including the Royal Oak, which had a large yard at the rear. Levi's Court lay between Royal Oak Court, which was adjacent to the pub, and Goodrich Court to the east. Further to the east was Island Mill, and on the opposite side of the road, St Bartholomew's Hospital. " http://churchdb.gukutils.org.uk/GLS2039.php
