1885, married Harriet Orme, regd. at Chorlton.
1891 Census, he is now named John James Shaw, living at Darwen, Lancs. and from then on,censuses show his children all having the middle name of "Goodwin".
Can't find him in prison or similar, as a reason for changing his identity.
