Thank you all for your messages My friend Mary tells me that her husband Graham Leonard Marshall's father was a Leonard Albert Marshall who told him that his grandfather was a Rhodes Edward born 1854
Also that his Great Great grandfather was a Rhodes Marshall this one appears to be the one who married a Mary Sargentson/Sargeson 20/5/1828 as supplied by ErikaH

Why do you think he had an additional forename?

I have a Rhodes Edward Marshall born 6/11/1854 at Boston Lincs died 11/4/1938 at Wynnum Brisbane Queensland
His father was a Edward Marshall born 1833 Boston Lincs died 28/11.1888 washed overboard at sea,he married a Charlotte Adelaide Richardson 21/2/1854 at Boston Lincs.
I have been told that Edward (1833 died 1888) was also called Rhodes Edward Marshall but I have not been able to confirm this.
I would be most gratefull for any assistance with this query.
I do have all of the family from Edward 1833 to the present day thank you
