I keep seeing hints for Obituaries on Ancestry but when you go into them ? well you can't without paying does any one know of any free sites for this I keep going round in circles on google The last one was newspaper.com Obituary index 1800 to currant for a George William Preston 1917

EDIT: Presumably that's the date of the obituary , as it doesn't seem possible to specify a birth or death year on the Newspapers.com Obituary Index, 1800s-current, which is what you specified.

It seems to be mainly USA deaths/obituaries, and most of them do have relatives' names.
But there are lots of George William or George W Prestons on it, even when specifying 1917 as the obituary date. Where did the record you found say he died?
