I have been trying to find the eventual fate of my late father’s first cousin, as above, since 2008, the son of John Henry Tyler (1846-1887) & Mary Ann WESTBURY (1852-1916). He appears in both the 1881&1891censuses living with his family in Kidderminster, Worcs aged 0 & 10yo and lodging in Mott St, Birmingham, aged 20 but was unable to find him in the 1911 census. I eventually managed to contact the granddaughter of his sister (Ida Violet Tyler) some 10 years ago and was told that he had emigrated to either South Africa or Southern Rhodesia (Zimbabwe) in the beginning of the last century but that they didn’t have any other details. Just recently, I found the online WikiTree site and on it, I found the details of a CHARLES Bertram Tyler which referred to the person I have been trying to trace for so many years.(His birth was registered as CHARLIE not Charles). There are some incomplete/incorrect records of the lady he is shown as being married to; her name being FLORENCE ETHEL DYKE whose birth was registered in Birmingham in 1887. She and her family are shown in both the 1891 & 1901 censuses but not in the 1911 census so I can only presume she and her family also emigrated prior to the 1911 census. The record in WikiTree gives no details of Charlie Tyler’s marriage to Florence Dyke but shows that they had 2 daughters, Marion Tyler born in ca 1910, whereabouts unknown, & died in ca1970 & Ethel Violet Tyler born in Johannesburg, RSA on 02/12/1918 & died in ca 2003 in Southern Rhodesia (Zimbabwe). I have tried to make contact with the person who inserted the details in WikiTree some weeks ago but without success! I would be extremely grateful for any practical advice to enable me to obtain the details I have been searching for since 2008. Best regards Peter Westbury MOSS, southern Norway

To Shirley and Maddie! I am extremely grateful for the invaluable information you have provided for me in such a short time; thank you so very much indeed. I will ‘pencil’ in the details you have so kindly given me because, by all accounts, I’ve read it is now quite difficult to obtain certificates for hard evidence from the 2 countries concerned. From what you have written, perhaps it would have been wiser to have subscribed to Ancestry! Again Ladies, my grateful thanks for taking the time to respond to my request. Kindest regards Peter
