:-) More help required if you can … Bit more information my Father had in his notes Johns parents - George Jnr - Wife Sarah - no maiden name ( notes say they married 25 May 1817 but can't be correct as John born 1816 or 1817) Johns Grandparents - George - Wife Mary - no maiden name Married 19 March 1786 Floore Northamptonshire England. Apparently John was employed as a groom in Floore prior to enlisting in Her Majesty's Forces. Trying to find any siblings, his mothers maiden name and family, when he departed England for Canada, how long he served there before deserting. Really any information prior to him being transported to Tasmania to serve the remainder his 14 year sentence. As I have most of his history in Tasmania.
Thank you all :-D :-D

Think the marriage we've both found Kath may be unlikely (but not impossible) to produce a child in 1803, never mind if the date has been transcribed wrongly

Probably the George who married Sarah Southam Northamptonshire Baptisms

------------------------------------------------------ and the marriage of his parents - wouldn't be in keeping with your Father's notes that George Junior married a Sarah - that to me implies that there was also a George Senior (? Father and son) around at the time

I did look at John Cross birth 1803 and baptism 1817, this would make him 14 years old. When John was returned to England from Canada in 1838 to serve his sentence for desertion he was 21 years of age. Perhaps his birthdate has been recorded incorrectly? Marriage of George to Sarah Southam 1792 wouldn’t be his parents, too old ? his grandparents were supposedly George Snr wife Mary married 19 March 1786. Missing a link somewhere.
This is my first effort trying to trace John and finding very confusing with so many John and George Cross‘s. I’m not sure who gave Dad the information. Is there any way of tracking military records of John’s enlistment in the army, when he shipped out and subsequent time served in Upper Canada? Appreciate and very grateful for all your help :-) :-) :-) :-)
