Just received the death certificate for William Jenion. As stated above, he died in 1859 - dod 30 January 1859 of chronic disease of the brain, father Henry present at death. I also looked at the children of William Jenion and Jane Cowley - Mary (1851), John (1852), Elizabeth (1854) and Margaret (1861). Since William died in 1859 and Margaret was born in 1861, it got me wondering if I had the right family, so I got the birth cert for Margaret. There is no father shown on the birth cert. However, in 1861 census she has a lodger, Thomas Rushton, but by 1871 census Thomas is shown as head and Jane working as housekeeper. I couldn't find them in 1881.

Erika has posted the marriage of William to Jane Cowley, which shows that his father's occupation was pavier.

Therefore I think it's safe to assume that the 1841 census with William aged 10, and father Henry a pavier, is the correct one.

And, given the birth of daughter Margaret in 1816 (not to mention older daughters Ann and Mary) , it also seems safe to assume that the 1809 marriage of Henry Jennion to Mary Green in Huyton is the correct marriage of his parents.

Thanks everyone. To me it looks like there are two Henry and Mary families. I've sent for the death certificate for William to see if that helps any, but not expecting much.
Sorry for the delay getting back - in process of moving house.

Did the marriage certificate say Henry was a pavier?

William is the father of Mary Jenion (b. 1851 in Huyton) and Mary was married to William Tipping. William Jenion was married to Jane Cowley.

The father of William Jennison shown above has agricultural labourer as his occupation, the father of William Genson is shown as pavier in 1851 census, so I'm leaning towards the Genson one being the correct one, unless someone can persuade me differently.

How did you work back to him?

Just found the other reference in 1841 - the name was spelled Genson. This one was the one I found previously. This one gives William's age as 10. Both references give parents as Henry and Mary.

I'm trying to find William Jenion in the 1841 census. He was living with his parents, Henry and Mary, and his siblings Margaret, Henry, James and Thomas. A while ago I found him but the name has been spelled so many different ways over time and I didn't make a note of how it was spelled in the 1841 census. I keep trying different variations but so far no luck. They were living in Huyton Village nr. Liverpool.
Thanks.
