If you read back, Terry was born a Jones. Edna was from John's first marriage and is not Henrietta's daughter.

Ever since 1837, the father's names - if known - have been recorded on England/Wales marriage certs.

One has always to consider that people weren't necessarily truthful, especially if they were illegitimate

i was wandering about getting the marriage certificate but wasnt sure whether or not the same applied back then with having the parents on there, as the results on here never do

If you wish to progress this, buy a copy of her marriage cert. IF she told the truth, you will find out her father’s name -IF she knew it

Also somewhere after 1939, Henrietta and John along with (possibly Terry) Maureen, joy/Joyce and Brian moved to Lincolnshire, Henrietta died in 1982

The first child of Henrietta was Edna - she was the eldest and married either an American/Canadian and moved to either America or Canada,
Doreen we’ve placed as being born in 1925, Terry is somewhere in the middle of 1925 and that of Maureen being born is 1936,
We think she’s from Ireland as she always said she was but my other half said that she never had an Irish accent and it was very much a London one,
There was always a rumour that the first 3 (Edna, Doreen and Terry) has a different father that wasn’t John a Wildash, as they had completely different build to him and didn’t resemble him at all, possibly proven by doreens birth certificate having Jenner on, and maureens having Wildash on ,
I’ve contacted that many people and looked at so many leads I’m starting to lose my mind :-S

Harriet is not the normal diminutive for Henrietta

Henrietta is Hetty/Hettie

Harriet is Hattie

BUT, that doesn't always apply, of course.

And then, as already posted, in 1936-37 John's with Harriet/Henrietta in Islington, and 1938-39 in Tottenham.

John and Margaret are at other Islington addresses before 1935.

The trees don't mention Harriet. One has a private entry for spouse, the others don't list a wife.


Two of them say he's on 1932 ER in Islington with his mother. He's not - that's his father John Barnes Jones.

The only hope of gaining accurate info is the 1941 marriage cert - and even that depends on her telling the truth

Henrietta's also there on 1938 ER, with John Albert Wildash.

In 1934, John Wildash is listed with his wife Margaret at 55 St Pauls Road, Islington.
In 1933 and 1932 Margaret and John Alfred (same person as John Albert ?) are at 18 Arundel Square, Islington.
In 1935, Margaret Ann and John Alfred are at 99 Holloway Road, Islington.

The only marriage I can see for a John Wildash to a Margaret is the one to Margaret Sewell.

In 1936 and 1937, John Alfred and Harriett Wildash are at 83 Bride Street, Islington.
