Hi
Can anyone please find Robert Walsh and Georgina nee ramsdale
On the 1911census in Burnley. Robert was born around 1881think in over Darwin to a William Walsh. Georgina was born approx 1885 possibly in Preston with father William ramsdale. First child born to the couple was Clifford in 1907. I'm hoping to confirm that Robert was born in Darwen and not burnley. At the time of his marriage to Georgina ramsdale Roberts father William was down as deceased.

Oh thanks. The rumour was Robert was born in lower Darwen and hence he was nick named Bobby darin or Darren. So perhaps this is not correct. Can anyone perhaos find Robert on the 1901census then maybe living with a William, South West Burnley. Walsh, s around there wrre very common and lots with same name especially on brush Street burnley and Accrington Road. I'm trying to discover which William Walsh Robert belongs to. I have a friend with Walsh, s from Darwen living on brush Street in Burnley and my walshs also lived on brush Street at one point but are not the same ones as my friends Walsh, s. Very confusing.

Does it say where William Walsh you have found with Mary was born please. There has to be a connection with lower Darwen. I know my friend definately has her Walsh s from Darwen. Mine are burnley and before that Altham. But all have same names of George, James, William and Robert which gets confusing, especially lly as both of the families lived on brush Street or vicinity at the same time. :-D

1891 census says William was born in Over Darwin - mistranscribed as Cale Darwin.

I'm confused. On the 1881 is William not there with Mary? Or is thst Mary not Roberts mother?

Are you asking about William or Robert?

In 1881 and 1861 (posted by me at 21:17) William is unmarried, and with his parents James and Nancy.

The other 1881 census record posted above (posted by Malyon at 21:06) has Robert with his mother Mary.

In 1901 he's with his uncle and aunt Moses and Nancy, and his sisters Jane and Frances.

Now it gets confusing.
The 1881 and 1861 censuses I posted, with William and his parents James and Nancy seem to be correct - but 1881 says he's single, in spite of his having married in 1876.

In 1861 he's a coal drawer, which fits.

No, that must be the wrong William (unfortunately, there's more than one William Walsh born in Over Darwen c1848.)

This (below in 1891) looks like James & Nancy's son in 1891, in which case he can't be the one who married Mary Cragg. And we already have the correct man in 1891 posted already

Thankyou. Yes appreciate your efforts. It is confusing as most of them lived in same street or area, came from Darwen and had similar first names. I think they are two or three different families. One is my friends family, one is my family and one is this other one I am trying to sort out now who I'm trying to establish are connected to my friends Walsh family and not mine. Irs very confusing as like you say they are using similar names and are from the same places and live in virtually same area of burnley.
