I wonder if anyone could help me sort out George Litherlands birth/parents

I have GEORGE LITHERLAND born c1835 St Helens Lancashire

Parents ? JOHN LITHERLAND and JANE

I have George on the 1841 and 1851 census living with his parents and siblings but his parents would have been in their 50's .
I have his marriage to Rose Hannah Davinson in 1859 in St Helens Lancashire

It's not impossible for Jane to have been George's mother.

Even if she wasn't, as he's listed as John & Jane's son in 1851, and John is named as his father when he married, I don't see that there's any way we can prove otherwise.

ErikaH I had found that info on lanc opc but had dismissed it as they may have been the john and jane in the 1841 and 1851 census but couldnt have been George's parents

I can see that physically Jane couldnt be Susannah and George's mother but have no way of proving who was.

As I said above, it's NOT impossible for Jane to have been George's mother - and Susannah's.

If she was born in 1787, she would have been 47 when Susannah was born (and note that Jane's mother's name was Susannah), and c49 when George was born.
Perfectly possible.

The man’s occupation on his marriage matches that on the son’s marriage record

Women who were constantly having children often had a late menopause

thank you for the info on women having children later on in life

Quite possible that Jane was there mother.
My Grandmother had 9 children, first born when she was 23yrs old and last born when she was 48yrs old

Elizabeth that is amazing. my mother had me when she was aged 43 and i thought that was old to have a child
