Hello, I am looking for George on the 1861 census or any after 1861. He was baptised 8 July 1832 parents George and Elizabeth at Darlington. He marries Jane Race on 24 April 1854 at St Mary the Virgin, Easington, Co Durham. Says full age for George who is a pitman and 20 for Jane. George's father is blacksmith, both are resident in Haswell, Co Durham. George and Jane's daughter is Margaret Jane born Sept q 1854. There is a death for a Jane Fishburn Dec q 1859 aged 26, Houghton le Spring district, Co Durham.

I cannot find George or his daughter Margaret Jane on the 1861 census. I am wondering if they emigrated and if anyone could check - thank you.

Maddie, which site are you getting your info from and I'm amazed at how quickly you got it. Thank you. I have just been trawling through my papers and my previous threads on Genes and I see that William (Jane's brother) emigrated to Australia in 1887 and one of his sons is named Fishburn Race. I now know where his name came from although I think it strange you would call your child after your sister's surname. Thank you again for your help.
