It's quite probable that Wladislaw / Frank had come to Scotland during WW2.
Thousands of Polish soldiers were evacuated to Scotland during the war, and were deployed from there.
Many settled in Scotland after the war.

I just now need to wait and see if my half sister will respond to my message on MyHeritage she is using a pseudonym but using the pseudonym I found her on Google looking for someone whose name I can`t put here (still living) I found him on facebook but he didn`t respond, be weird if he was my half brother, still you can`t make someone reply if they don`t want to. Thank you for giving up your time for me this morning.x

Blimey AG seems like he was, can`t be any other explanation can there? Suppose really there could have been practical reasons who knows. Well done for finding that out, I`ll be writing that down as well...Thank you so much

Yes, Abdul was Anna's first husband.

I don't see any further records for him.

Nothing to do with your search - but just as an extreme example of multiple entries for one marriage , which I came across while looking for anything re Anna's husband -
entering just forenames, search for the marriage of an Abdul to a Yasmeen in Motherwell (Lanarkshire) in 1982.
144 results for one marriage!

Linda Report 18 Apr 2020 13:16

Again, a massive thank you to you both, AG and GG ....I now know things I didn`t before....presumably Abdul was Anna Maureens 1st marriage...It really is mentally exhausting all this searching <3

This is probably not relevant, unless Wladislaw was Margaret's toy boy, but posting just in case:

Wladyslaw Rudowicz
in the England & Wales, Civil Registration Marriage Index, 1916-2005
Name: Wladyslaw Rudowicz
Registration Date: Jul 1955
[Aug 1955]
[Sep 1955]
Registration Quarter: Jul-Aug-Sep
Registration district: Westminster
Inferred County: Middlesex
Spouse: Margaret E Ford
Volume Number: 5c
Page Number: 1041

Margaret remarried in 1984, and died in 1990, aged 78.

I've seen similar marriage results before on SP - where people have been known by different names, so there's an entry which looks as if two men (or two women) married, as well as the man/woman records.

But there's only one actual cert, even if apparently three or more records.

Just the misleading marriage certificate, that would be an interesting one !!

ArgyllGran Report 18 Apr 2020 12:36

Frank and Wladislaw's deaths both have the same reference number - so they are the same person.

Doesn't matter which way you search for the death:

If you search for Frank Ray's death in 1976, and enter Rudowicz as "Other name", Frank's death comes up, which means that both names are on the same cert.

If you search for a Ray death, without first name, and enter Rudowicz as "other name", results for both Frank and Wladislaw come up - so again, both names are on the same death cert.

If you search for a Rudowicz death, entering Ray as "other name", two results come up, one for Frank Rudowicz, and one for Wladislaw Rudowicz - so both are the same death cert.

Yes he was born 1926 but his daughter is only 6 years younger than me, yes same father obviously not same mother, all the dates fit that he was my dad, my mum was born 1933. Thank you for everything ArgyllGran, I really appreciated your input

Re the 1966 marriage - it's all the same marriage:

Anna Maureen is listed twice, with two surnames she had been known by (Robertson and Lutfi) .
Robertson was her maiden name, and Lutfi a previous married name:

ROBERTSON
ANNA MAUREEN E
LUTFI
xxxxxxxx (forename removed in case still living)
1958
644/7 20
Kelvin

Frank is also listed as both Ray and Rudowicz - two names by which he was known.

The apparent marriage of Frank to himself as Rudowicz is also something to do with the fact that he had two names - you'd have to see the cert for details - obviously he didn't marry himself!

greyghost Report 18 Apr 2020 12:22

AG - I'm a bit confused here - doesn't take much!

Frank Ray married Wladyslaw Rudowicz in 1966 and they both died 1976 in Martha Street RD. (but as you say same registration reference)

Her name at death is registered as both Rudowicz and Ray

Another Frank Ray married Anna Maureen Robertson / Lutfi and she died in 2008, although not seeing registration in any other than that name
EDIT = found the death with Lutfi surname same reg. details as Ray. My computer had reverted to LUFTI not Lutfi and so didn't show up.

From google -Wladyslaw is a Polish given male name, cognate with Vladislav. Feminine form is Wladyslawa. Alternate, archaic forms are Wlodzislaw (male) and Wlodzislawa (female).

Did registration miss off the end A? Or like my neighbours who gave a common male name to their daughter.

Well found, Greyghost!

Linda, the death of WLADYSLAW RUDOWICZ which GG found is the same death as Frank Ray - so that was his birth name.

Linda

Linda Report 18 Apr 2020 12:07

Sorry, having reread your replies I can see I`ve repeated what you already stated. There is one thing I don`t understand. On SP there are two Anna Maureen (deceased) names, two different surnames names, both the same year 1966 married to Frank Ray, the surnames fit in with the scant family tree. Robertson, Lutfi and a Wladyslaw Rudowicz also 1966 to Frank Ray and all the same reference number. Hope you understand my reply. So that`s all 3 same reference number, same year and married to Frank Ray all listed one after the other. I found that really confusing

You say a half sister was born 1961.

That's a huge gap, from 1926-ish to 1961.
If they are indeed siblings, that would almost certainly have to mean that they have the same father, but not the same mother.

Linda

Linda Report 18 Apr 2020 11:49

Kiljewicz was his mothers maiden name, just gonna read through your replies again, and thank you

ArgyllGran

ArgyllGran Report 18 Apr 2020 11:40

Maybe he changed his name from a Polish (?) one to something more easily pronounced and spelled - if his father's name was also Polish.

Unfortunately, for such a relatively recent birth, it's not possible to use mms as a search term on SP.

{EDIT - though, having said that, I don't see any Kiljewicz (or similar) marriage to another Polish-sounding name in Scotland, nor in England/Wales.}

I'm afraid it looks as if you'll have to wait until you can get a copy of the death cert for further clues.

ArgyllGran Report 18 Apr 2020 11:30

As far as the Glasgow ER is concerned, there are no Frank Rays there in the 1960's.

The latest one is this:

Frank Ray
in the Glasgow, Lanarkshire, Scotland, Electoral Registers, 1857-1962
Name: Frank Ray
Residence Year: 1956
Address: 733 [ mistranscribed - 119 Fulton Street on image ]
Residence Place: Glasgow, Lanarkshire, Scotland
Parliamentary Division: Glasgow

There are no other Rays with him, although there are three other names at that address, because it would be a block of flats, with all the flats having the same address.

However, as ERs don't give ages, there's no way of knowing if that could be him or not.

Sorry, not much help after all!
