You are right ErikaH about his death place. That was my error. Thank you. |

To GreyGhost - I never thought to click on the Katherine Butler link in the Wikipedia article! What a fascinating woman she must have been. And to think that it was only twenty years ago that she died; how I wish I'd known about her. So everything now hangs on her sister Beatrice in the hope of finding a living descendant/relative. Unless their father had a sibling who, in turn, may have had children etc. |

I was confused about your use of the word "ancestor.". The definition of the word is someone from whom you descend. So technically he was not your ancestor. |

Thank you MargaretM. JBB is an ancestor but I am not directly descended from him. He is the first cousin once removed of my maternal Great Aunt born 1894. My Great Aunt's mother was EDITH KATHLEEN BAYLEY, in turn the third daughter of HENRY ELLIOTT DASHWOOD BAYLEY. The copious family notes, diaries, photographs and letters mention that JBB had compiled an extensive BAYLEY family tree and his Wikipedia mentions that he was writing his autobiography. If we could trace his descendants, we could 'swap' these treasures! |

When asking for help, it is sensible to give all known relevant info on the thread. |

Nicola. you said that James Bayley-Butler was your ancestor so surely you're descended from Beatrice? |

After his first wife died, Butler remarried in 1944 to Alice Dromgoole, a medical social worker. Butler died on 21 February 1964. His family retain a draft of his autobiography, which has been considered for publication in the past.[1] |

A tree on Ancestry says he married Katherine Mary McWeeney and had a daughter Beatrice Bayley-Butler who married Frederick Egbert Dixon but the tree doesn't show any children. |

Oh, perhaps you would find it interesting that my Great Aunt writes that she visited him in the house he built GLENLION! As mentioned on the Wikipedia page. |
