Hello everyone,
Trying to unravel this.
Gertrude P Barrat born 1878 Reubon is the daughter of Alexander John Barrat.and Adelaide Partridge Barrat,but we cant find her baptism record to get further details
.
Her school record has her as Gertrude P Barrat and shows her as 12 yrs old.which is accurate for her birth year.

We have been trying to find her marriage but the one only one we found has Gertrude Mary Partridge Barrat to Walter Stansfield in 1907.but no details of her parents.
Gertrude and Walter are on the 1911 census but her age shows she was born in 1881
We are uncertain if the marriage is for the same person,in spite of the similarities of names,although we haven't found anything to show that Gertrude had the
additional name of Mary.

In view of the son's mms, I would say this is the same woman.

EDIT: Actually, that doesn't make sense! Of course the mms would be Barratt even if she was a different Gertrude Barratt!

But there is only one birth of a Gertrude Partridge Barratt (or variation of spelling) 1875 - 1895 - ie - the one in Wrexham 1878

Perhaps she just told her husband that she was a couple of years younger than she actually was. This looks like the couple in the 1939 register (same street as in 1911 but a different house):-

I would imagine that the middle initial of B for Jack in the 1939 register probably stands for Barrat.

It only means 1939 is for the couple who married in 1907, and not necessarily for the Gertrude born 1878 - but there seems to be no other possible Gertrude.

To repeat - does the 1907 marriage cert not name her father?

I don't think Patricia actually has the marriage certificate - only the GRO reference.

If this was my family I'd be pretty happy to assume (I know you shouldn't assume) that this was the correct family.

Buying the marriage certificate would be my next step.
