Hello Jean, hope you are well and glad to see you are still working on your tree.
If it's any help, the Poor Relief records that are indexed (certainly the Glasgow ones) are usually indexed showing both married and maiden surnames for married / widowed women.

If all of your McCluskeys are connected, you should have one thread for the lot
That means all of the work people do to try to help stays in one place and isn’t duplicated
Looking for info which has already been found is irritating.
I can see 16 threads apart from this one which you have posted about the name

Just for future reference -
to find your old threads, go to "My threads" in the "Tools" menu on the left side of this page, then at the top of the resulting page click "My threads - started".

There are also several possible marriages in Calton, 1881 - 1901. Mary Wright isn't an uncommon name.
Looking at the Calton 1891 census above (which may or may not show the right Mary) , there's this marriage WRIGHT MARY TAYLOR MATTHEW 1892 644/4 113 Calton
Mary Taylor in the 1901 Scotland Census Name: Mary Taylor Age: 30 Estimated birth year: abt 1871 Relationship: Wife Spouse's name : Matthew Taylor Gender: Female Where born: Glasgow, Lanarkshire Registration Number: 644/4 Registration district: Calton Civil Parish: Glasgow St James County: Lanarkshire Address: 123 Green St ED: 19 Household schedule number: 79 Line: 9 Roll: CSSCT1901_281 Household Members: Name Age Matthew Taylor 63 Mary Taylor 30 Maggie Cuthbert 20 - boarder
EDIT:
NO, that's the wrong Mary. I've had a look at the marriage cert, and she's the daughter of Alexander Wright and Catherine Stewart.
And now I see that on one of the other threads, you'd already discounted that one, Jean.
That's the trouble with having more than one thread on the same people.

There are a couple of possibilities for the daughter Mary in 1891, as a servant - but can't prove either:
this one with the Woodburn family:
Mary Wright in the 1891 Scotland Census Name: Mary Wright Age: 20 Estimated birth year: abt 1871 Relationship: Servant Gender: Female Where born: Glasgow Registration Number: 644/7 Registration district: Blythswood Civil Parish: Glasgow Barony Town: Glasgow County: Lanarkshire Address: 197 Bath St: ED: 64 Household schedule number: 53 Line: 12 Roll: CSSCT1891_269
or this one in Calton, which might be more likely:
Mary Wright in the 1891 Scotland Census Name: Mary Wright Age: 20 Estimated birth year: abt 1871 Relationship: Serv (Servant) Gender: Female Where born: Glasgow, Lanarkshire Registration Number: 644/4 Registration district: Calton Civil Parish: Glasgow St James County: Lanarkshire Address: 123 Green Street Occupation: General Serv ED: 24 Household schedule number: 41 Line: 5 Roll: CSSCT1891_255 Household Members: Name Age Matthew Taylor 53 Jane Robertson 78 Mary Wright 20

Previous thread about this couple, concentrating on finding Elizabeth's death, and containing links to other previous threads:

Might save repetition of research. Jean has summarised it all pretty well above.

This is why I wanted to have a look at the poor application i thought maybe Elizabeth might have applied under her maiden name.

O.K back with some dates.
in 1871 Elizabeth and Children living with Elizabeth's sister in New Street, Calton. 1881 Elizabeth and children living with Elizabeths brother Felix at 74 1/2 Kirk Street, Calton in 1891 Sons Henry and John living with relatives at 31, Kirk Street, Calton, no sign of Elizabeth and daughter Mary. Been searching on Scotlands people forever for deaths for mother and daughter but nothing. Husband John Wright re married in 1888 St.Rollox district, Glasgow. it shows he is a widower. John died 1894, his 2nd wife signed death cert.

Thanks ErikaH, How long have you got ?
Its a long story with my Elizabeth McCluskey. She was born c 1844 in Ireland married John Wright ( can't think of the date have to get back to you on that) Had 3 children , Henry b c1869, Mary b c 1871 and John b c 1873. John was a master mariner , I can only find Elizabeth and her 3 children on 1871 and 1881 census living with relatives.
There is no sign of Elizabeth and daughter Mary after 1881, both sons Henry and John are with relatives . Her husband John remarries a LiliasLow , again I will have to get back to you with dates, it shows he is a widower. There are a couple of threads on here about my Mccluskeys, all living in and around Kirk Street , Glasgow . I am just going to check on my notes and get back to you.
regards jean

Good morning, I hope everyone is well and staying optimistic . Decided to keep busy and revisit my family tree, haven't been on here for a while .
I would be grateful if anyone who has Ancestry to look at the North Lanarkshire, Scotland Poor Law Applications and Registers 1849 / 1917 for Elizabeth McCluskey.
