There was probably an inquest, but if so, then it was probably held in September, so bear this in mind when searching.

Yes Glyn - the local library nearest to the area is usually the best course of action - some will look up for free and others will make a small charge but most are very helpful.

When looking for articles in newspapers on FMP it is always worth trying just key words if the names don't show as the transcriptions sometimes bear no resemblance to the words on the printed page.

Hi Dea,
Yes I have FMP.
The first articles from the Newcastle Evening Chronicle and the Coventry Evening Telegraph refer to the tragedy. Brilliant!
I notice that they spelt my uncle’s surname Greenway ( without the A) so maybe that’s why I couldn’t find it, but when I checked that spelling nothing came up.
I think the Welsh papers will have more details ( perhaps) so I’ll try the library reference too from Kath.
That’s fantastic though Dea. I never thought of just trying the words not the name
Thanks very much
Glyn

You can email the reference library here:-

[email protected]

It says they hold newspapers.

If you give them the date of death and his address it should be quite easy for someone to find any reference to it in local newspapers. Some libraries make a charge for searching and others don't.

Thank you I will try to get in touch with a local paper. The Glamorgan Times was online and I thought that might have had a mention, but I couldn’t see it.

Born 14/4/1919. Died 23/8/1963.

I’m trying to find any newspaper reports about the death of the above man ( my uncle) who was known to the family and friends as Ted.

I’ve looked on FMP newspapers but can’t find anything, but I know the Genes Reunited community are much better at finding things.

He was a crane driver, and his gib touched overhead power cables, he was electrocuted and died.

It was on the local news, probably Harlech TV, which covered the south west and Wales areas. This was the first my father heard about his brother’s death, and was disturbing to us all.

As it was on the news, I’m sure the local papers must have mentioned it, but I can’t find any newspaper report.

He lived in South Wales in Pontypridd with his wife and daughter.
Can you help please?
Thanks
Glyn
