I am having a problem trying to find exactly who James Raworth born Plymouth 1778 was married to. A family member said it was an Ann Kid but unable to find a marriage , however have found a marriage to a Ann Rich in Bridgewater, although the 2 marriage dates differ. I know for sure there was a daughter Mary Ann Raworth who married a John Straw and they lived in Kimberworth Yorks. father was a silver smith/watch maker. Found a marriage also for a Susan Raworth In Bridgewater, father James Raworth , watch maker . Unable to find a birth for Mary Ann or Susan Raworth, I am unable to find the mother Ann so presume she died. Any help would be appreciated, thank you |

The only baptism for a Mary Ann Raworth that I can find in the area is this one (but the father's name is John not James):- |

Kath, I did find the marriage for Ann Rich , no I do not know the witnesses, but I did see that James Johnstone is also named as witness for a couple more marriages on the same page, so presume he was someone to do with the church. No that can't be the Mary Ann Raworth I want because I believe she was born in 1824 in Bridgewater. Susan Raworth married in 1837 and states full age so presume she must have been born approx 1816. I see there was an Ann born 1824 on the 1841 census for a James Raworth but I think that might be the wife of son Charles who I believed married in 1840. I see the name of street Eastover, Bridgewater has a connection to James Raworth watch maker.. |

P.S. I have a feeling that the witness Ann Raworth could be the sister in law of Mary Ann and James Raworth her father |

Unfortunately, no records online for baptisms for the children of James and his wife, so, unless they exist at the County Records Office, you will never be able to prove his wife's name |

I found a marriage cert on Ancestry for Mary Ann Raworth who married John Straw, it states her father was a silver smith, so this seems to tie in with the marriage of Charles Rawerth on 6th Dec 1845 whose father James Rawerth being a silver smith. So presume Mary Ann and Charles were siblings. William Raworth Straw was my stepfathers grandfather so the connection of Raworth |

Perhaps the Ann age 17yrs on the 1841 census in Bridgewater is actually Mary Ann, but the later census’s she was always Mary Ann (Straw) |

Thankyou for the baptism of Charles in 1867. I also noticed that when he married in 1845 he was down as a widower. |

Found that Charles Raworth married a Sarah Ann Faulkner i1840, but she was not on the 1841 census with Charles, found she had died June 1842. Then on the 1851 census I had found earlier a James Raworth was a lodger with a George and Mary Faulkner, I wondered at the time if there was any connection with the Faulkner’s, this answered my question, Onviously some relation to his sons wife Sarah Ann |
