Hi All
I am after a bit of help if possible please?
I've been researching my dads side of the family and made good progress over the years however i have hit a brick wall when it comes to my dads great aunt Margaret. My dad or my aunt never new anything about her, she was a bit of a mystery. She was a no go subject for them from their parents and grandparents. I've managed to find her on the 1901 & 1911 cen but after that the trail goes cold. Her Name Was Margaret Fitzgerald she was the Daughter of John & Alice Fitzgerald nee Geraghty/Garratty and her brother was James. He was born in 1895. I have them living in Lodge Avenue in the Richmond/Mortlake Area of Surrey. in the 1911 cen it appears she was 17 and a domestic servant for Lawrence & Henrietta Smart in Melville Road. She then disappears! I cannot find her birth registered or death.
Can anyone help or point me where to go? I dont know her exact dob :(
Many Thanks in advance
Shelley

The UK address of the Margaret who travelled in 1955 above, was: 20 Armitage Road, Bournes Green, Southend-on-sea.
She was a teacher

You say, "Now just to find out when she went".
But previously you said, "I think ive found her going on a ship to new york at 63!"
What was the date of travel on the record you found? There seem to be a lot of Margaret Fitzgeralds coming and going, many with no DOB.

One Ancestry tree has the 1901/1911 census as you.
They then have her in New York 1915 as a Teacher aged 23 but census shows born US
24.4.1929 - Arrival Southampton. Aged 38 a Buyer by occupation, address ? Park Lane Hotel
1935 - Residence Rural, Ulster, New York - no census attached, but stated on 1940 one
1940 - Rochester, Ulster, NY as a servant born England aged 48
1955 - arrival Southampton. Posted by Maddie earlier. Further info from original shows her dob 12 5.92. going to 20 Ermitage Road, Bournes Green, Southend on Sea. A teacher with English passport, country of last Permanent residence and intended future residence is England
1984 - death Richmond upon Thames
The other tree has only her 1901/11 census, Mother Alice, Father unknown

there was a rumour no fact to it that she might of been like a governess or something of the like with private families? My dads memory isn’t great but he thought he had heard she was something like that but they weren’t really told anything

The 1915 mentioned above, just for the record:
Margaret Fitzgerald in the New York, State Census, 1915 Name: Margaret Fitzgerald Birth Year: abt 1892 Birth Place: United States Age: 23 Gender: Female Residence Place: New York, New York Relationship: Teacher Colour or Race: White Assembly District: 09 House Number: 164 Line Number: 31 Page Number: 23
Address: St Michael's Church & Convent.
But that tree GG mentioned sounds considerably mixed up.

Thank you all for your help. I’ve saved a lot to my tree to go through with my dad today and try and make some sense of it all. Appreciate all your help. It’s definitely a bit more information then what we had x
