Please couls someone tell me what the M quarter means as in the date, theter is no month just 1923 M quarter |

The quarter given is the quarter in which the death was registered, but as Kay says, a death registered in Jan-Mar quarter could have taken place any time between 27 December (24 Dec in Scotland) and 31 March. |

And in case you don't know - 6 weeks is allowed in which to register a birth, so someone born mid November ish 1922 might be registered Mar Qtr 1923. |

Nowadays locally it is often difficult to get an appointment to register a death within the 5 day limit. |
