Hi, this a long shot but please does anyone know how to get access to an inquest held in South Africa in 1997 ? My daughter-in-law's relative was killed there and now ,as an adult ,she would like more info.

By 'killed' do you mean accidentally - or something else?

Have you googled to see whether inquest info is actually available for SA?

was the death registered at the British Consulate if so you should be able to get the death cert through FMP

It should give cause of death

I am sorry for the late reply but I had a family problem to deal with.The relative I spoke of was murdered.
I will pass on the details of the Inquest Act.

If you know where the murder took place then the inquest may have been reported in local newspapers at the time which could possibly be kept at a local library. Only a possibility though as I don't know how things work in South Africa.

It is just possible that the murder was reported in a world newspaper ..... it could be worth your while to check Newspapers on FMP.

You could check the name for free, and then ask someone on here if they could look it up for you, if you do not have a sub to FMP
