If Joseph died in Bradford in 1862 age 64 then his age is quite a bit out if he was born @ 1789.

Unfortunately, the William Rushforth, son of John and Elizabeth, whose 1863 baptism was posted by ErikaH, isn't the son of Jonathan and Elizabeth in the 1861 census.
Jonathan is a cloth dresser in 1861.
William's baptism document says his father John was a miner, and the address was Mabgate, Leeds.
So this is William and parents in 1871:
William M Rushforth in the 1871 England Census Name: William M Rushforth Age: 9 Estimated birth year: 1862 Relation: Son Gender: Male Where born: Leeds Yorkshire England Civil Parish: Leeds Ecclesiastical parish: St Mary Town: Leeds County/Island: Yorkshire Country: England Registration district: Leeds Sub-registration district: North Leeds ED, institution, or vessel: 42 Household schedule number: 26 Piece: 4554 Folio: 172 Page Number: 5 Household Members: Name Age John M Rushforth 38 - coal miner Elizabeth M Rushforth 30 William M Rushforth 9 Charles Hy M Rushforth 6 James N M Rushforth 4 John M Rushforth 4/12
Address: 2 Mabgate Fold.
Parents' marriage: Marriages Mar 1857 (>99%) Rushforth John Moore Leeds 9b 339 Wrigglesworth Elizabeth Leeds 9b 339
RUSHFORTH, WILLIAM mms WRIGGLESWORTH GRO Reference: 1861 S Quarter in LEEDS Volume 09B Page 341
I know the DOB given on the baptism record doesn't fit with that registration.

H could be. As you say it is really confusing with them having similar names. Those census for Jonathan are correct. I suppose the only thing left if for me to buy Josephs death cert and see if he is mentioned on that.
Thanks for helping me ErikaH

BUT.............
Joseph's surname is clearly RushWorth - Leah's first husband was RushForth
1861 census has them as RushForth - confusing, to say the least
In 1861, Jonathan is also recorded as RushForth
Perhaps he was Leah's son by her first husband??????

Hi ErikaH
Yes I am pretty sure about the marriage. It would be Josephs second marriage aswell.
The problem I have is that I have a Jonathan Rushworth born c1826 in Leeds. He married a Elizabeth Faubert in 1850 Leeds. The certificate said his dad was called Joseph a cloth dresser. Because of Jonathan's date of birth I can't get a birth certificate to find out his mums name. Joseph was a witness on his marriage cert. so was he Jonathan's dad.
On the 1841 I have Jonathan living with a Joseph and a Martha. 1841 England Census - York street about Jonathan Rushworth Name: Jonathan Rushworth Age: 15 Estimated birth year: abt 1826 Gender: Male Where born: Yorkshire, England
Civil parish: Leeds Town Hundred: Leeds Borough County/Island: Yorkshire Country: England
Street Address:
Occupation: View image
Registration district: Leeds Sub-registration district: Leeds North Neighbors: View others on page Household Members: Name Age Joseph Rushworth 20 Martha Rushworth 25 Jonathan Rushworth 15
I had thought they were brothers and sister. and there parents were Joseph Rusworth and Ann Holmes. But I have my doubts. Jonathan may not be related to them.
On the 1851 Joseph and Leah are living at West End Place and he is a cloth dresser.
On 1861 Joseph and leah are living next door to Jonathan in west end Place.
Leah died i 1862 aged 83 and Joseph died in 1863 aged 64 in Bradford.
Leah would not be Jonathan's Mum so Joseph would have married before, but who to.
