I have a James Liddle born 1849/50 in Linlithgow West Lothian his parents were Thomas Liddle and Jean Duncan
When his father died in 1876 James was present and he gave his address as Castleton St Manchester I've had a look at the censuses for 1881 Nothing second pair of eyes are needed please

Sorry I've just corrected it the name is Liddle, I think it might have been James McAlpine Liddle but just go with the Liddle

Do you know anything about him, occupation/married? There's these 2 but not in Manchester.

sorry I don't only have 1851 census with his father age 11 then as I say when his father died not sure how these electoral register work and what time they started ? think its too early but I was hoping some one might have been able to get the census or some thing up for Castleton St Manchester ??

You say above - 1851 census aged 11 so born c 1840, yet in OP you have him born 1849/50. Which is correct?

Edit - However, while Longridge is in Linlithgowshire, it is a way from Linlithgow itself

The first one posted by Rambling in 1881 (born c1847) had a father named James
